Reading the article it made me think of what has been going in Haiti in the past as well as today. It is sad that the killing of hundreds and thousands of people are all due a division of people who are equals made years back. Reading about places and situations such as these make me happy that i was born and raised in America.
I plan to write my paper on the influence music has on today's youth. Many people blame the music industry for the messages the put in their music and/or videoes. In my paper I plan to argue that the music industry is not to blame for the behavior of today's youth. It is the job of the parents to instill the morals and values in their children; children should not have to look to television to teach them things they should be learning at home. Children are also more influenced by their peers than they are by the music industry. Music artist should not have to worry about censoring their music to accomadate parents that should be teaching chldren themseleves. I'm not in any way arguing that the messages and/or videos are always positive messages, only that it music industry is not to blame for the bad influence on many of today's youth.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines euthanasia (in recent use) as the action of inducing a gentle and easy death. The term passive euthanasia is defined as the withholding or withdrawal of life-sustaining medical treatment inthe knowledge that the person concerned will die. In many instances throughout medical history when a person taken off life sustaining treatment they often go through tremendous unbearable pain. If in fact euthanasia is a means of easing death then why would anyone withhold treatment as means of death if it is in turn painful.
I often compare myself to a spectrum I can go from one extreme to another. Some say I'm very caring and down to earth, while others say I am silly. A fun day to me can be a wild party or relaxing while reading a really interesting book. I'm always ready and willing to try something fun and new, as long as it won't hurt me. Are you wondering who "I" am? Well wonder no more I am Queenna Damour.
Just to say a little more about me, I'm from Queens, NY and I love The City. I'm the youngest of seven, which makes me arguementative. So I am sort of looking forward to the discussions in this class. Currently, my major is Nutrition but I want to change it to Forensic Science. I know you are probably thinking she watches too much Law and Order and CSI, but thats not the case with me I am honestly interested in Forensics.
I often compare myself to a spectrum I can go from one extreme to another. Some say I'm very caring and down to earth, while others say I am silly and spacey. A fun day to me can be a wild party, the BEACH, or relaxing while watching a good movie curled up in my many pillows and blankets, especially when it is cold outside. I'm always ready and willing to try something fun and new, as long as it won't kill me. Are you wondering who "I" am? Well wonder no more I am Kacey Yashchenko, Queenna Damour's roommate.
Just to say a little more about me, I'm from West Chester, Pa and I love My City, Philly!. I'm an only child, but I am NOT I repeat, I am NOT spoiled. Currently, my major is Nursing but I'm interested in Forensic Science, but I don't want to take math 140 for the major, so WHAT TO DO?! I know you are probably thinking she watches too much Law and Order and CSI, but thats not the case with me I am honestly interested in Forensics, and I watch too much family guy and friends.
After reading Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail," I was really impressed by his style of argument. King thouroughly and effectively argued each point of the letter he was responding to. He takes every point and explains it so that it was understood why that step was taken. In the letter he uses many good techniques in argument such as answering questions that the reader might think of posing his or herself. Also King's writing stays calm and collective throughout the letter allowing him to effectively suppport his arguments. Not agreeing with King's method of nonviolent protest, myself, this arguement definitely made me second guess his methods of dealing with segregation. This argument was definitely a well structured arguement that undoubtedly should've helped in the Civil Rights movement.
Among adults who consume alcoholic beverages what is their drink of choice? The statistics on The USA Today Snapshot reveal that 20% had no preference, 43% preferred wine, while 37% preferred beer. This statistical evidence is very questionable.Whom USA Today surveyed is very important in this set of statistical evidence. First, what is considered an adult in these stastics? Do they consider 18 and older or 21 and older to be an adult? The younger the drinker the more unlikely they consume more wine than other lower to lower-middle classes most likely drink other alcoholic beverages more than wine due to price. Thirdly, I think the gender of the adults surveyed slighty effects the statistics. The ratio of men to women surveyed is important. Overall, I don't think this set of statistical evidence is a good reference in an argument.
Unlike other speeches delivered by President Bush this speech was actually delivered well. In the speech he gives Americans a sense of safety while giving a sense a patriotism. He thanks America for their help after the 9\11. He also thanks other foreign countries that have aided us anyway. This speech was given at a time when Ameicans really needed a boost of patriotism and I think Bush's speech does this for those who read it.
I found many of the definitions of terrorism to be molded after the entire September 11th tradegy. Instead of making a more general but concise definition the definition was made to describe specifically the recent events such as Sempter 11th. I personally like the the definition given by James M. Poland. He makes a clear definition that can go with almost any form of terrorism.
A 15 year old Iraqi girl died of the Avain bird flu from touching a dead contaminated bird just three days before dying. The bird flu might have spread to neighboring villages in Turkey due to lack of funds for the surveillance of the flu. They're is a greater chance of the flu spreading if the infected birds are not contained. This war torn country has a very deadly flu that is a possible threat of becoming a pandemic and they are not giving it the proper care in which it deserves. Instead of spending money on the war the Iraqi government need to put some of the money into taking care of the serious flu.
